Our lost Spacedude has found the right universe at last... but the wrong location! He's just come from the middle of a raging fire (we can only speculate about what was going on in that universe), and landed in the middle of the ocean. It's a good job he's wearing airtanks; although they do seem to have lasted an awfully long time!

Tranquility Base #170 - The Winter Collection is trimmed with wampa fur

My shiny 'bling' Stormtrooper was previously seen in the "Pimp My Wheelchair" contest arc. Here he is again for a one-off explaining why he's so shiny. Also, demonstrating possibly the only situation where "one size" really does "fit all".

This episode was inspired after reading that a fashion designer has been asked to redesign the hospital gown. You know, the gown that leaves your bum hanging out the back.

Tranquility Base #169 - Hey, this 'ship is practically canon!

It's Valentine's Day tomorrow -- so what better way to mark the (overblown, hyped, marketing-ploy) occasion than with an episode dedicated to the world's greatest couple? And what better way to reunite them, than with a classic meadow run (warning: TV Tropes link!)? Maybe I should have done a semaphore version?

Thanks to this year's release of set #8092 Luke's Landspeeder, I've finally got my paws on a C3PO fig that didn't require me to take out a mortgage first.

Oh, ok, I didn't really hurt any tauntauns. I defy you to watch the tauntaun freezing-to-death scene now and not feel sad.

Tranquility Base #167 - Based on a True Story (except for the bits I made up)

Yeah, I got spoiled by a DVD cover. Not too badly, but it did make me feel a little sad even though the thing it spoiled wasn't wholly surprising. Would it really hurt to use a less spoilerific cover?

The same happens in "next time on..." trailers. You get a really good cliff-hanger and then the trailer for the next episode completely removes any uncetainty and dramatic tension.

In 1980 the phrase "Who shot J.R.?" entered popular culture (I was a mere toddler at the time) -- these days, they'd probably show you who did it in the "coming next season" trailers (or on the internet).

Next week in Tranquility Base: we discover that Captain Slog is actually the mastermind behind every evil scheme that has happened in the comic so far...

Tranquility Base #166 - And don't send a teenage boy on shore-leave alone

Tody's strip refers to a legendary (for various reasons) episode from the first series of The Next Generation: Justice, in which Wesley Crusher (who else?) accidentally breaks a law (by stepping on a flower bed!) and is sentenced to death on a planet the Enterprise had no business being on in the first place. Unfortunately Picard is succesful in extricating Wesley from his predicament.

Similar issues crop up in other episodes of all Trek incarnations. The first place you should stop-off on any planet is the nearest legal library. In fact, I think I've just invented a new profession: exo-lawyer.
