Slog is showing one of his moments of sharp insight in the last panel there. He's not quite a stupid as he first appears.

River's plight reminds me of some sound advice from my mother: never pass-up the opportunity for a pee. Even if you don't think you need one at the time.

It does make me wonder what would happen to bodily waste in a transporter beam? In Star Trek, for example, the transporters have biofilters that decontaminate the transported matter (except when it doesn't!), so why not extend it to include bodily waste? It would explain why there don't appear to be any toilets on the Starship Enterprise (all of them): no need for them, just beam yourself from one transporter pad to another.
