I've started adding transcripts to comics. Currently only new comics will have transcripts, but gradually I'll add transcripts to the archives. You can choose to "Show" or "Hide" transcripts, which will save a cookie to your browser ("Show stores the cookie, "Hide" deletes it). Transscripts are visible on the episode pages (permalinks) only, and not on the home page.
Actually, I don't recall an actual, proper, asteroid belt in Star Trek, the obstacle of the week was usually a sentient cloud of some sort. Anyway, the sentiment still stands: space is three-dimensional and they have faster-than-light technology!
Of course if you are evading an evil Empire, then you want to fly into an asteroid field -- just don't tell the pilot the odds of successfully navigating it.
