Oh no, it's Darth Vader! Remember what Artoo said in episode 13? Oops... someone will indeed pay for this.

Don't blame me if anybody actually creates a LOLEwoks website! I just come up with the ideas, I don't tell people to carry them out.

This episode was produced in a similar to Captain Slog's computer screen. This time, though, it's viewed from two different camera positions: from the front, close-up looking at Vader's face, and from behind, a wide shot that looks at Vader's back and what he can see on the screen.

Digital effects in this episode included a "holoscreen" effect from behind (it hums gently), super-imposing a lightsaber blade (augmenting its glow) into the paw of a baby Ewok (a still from Return of the Jedi) and then placing it in the computer screen behind Vader's head using a simple chroma key (green/blue screen) technique.

Director's Commentary (Transcript)

Oh hell yeah... that was a tough day -- we were, like, already hugely over budget and running, like, three weeks behind, and I needed a, like, totally black set, like, overnight! Yeah, well, the guys were really, like, 'no way dude,' and I was, like, 'yes way DUDE,' and the money-suits in the studio were, like, breathing down my neck. So, yeah, long story short, that set was, like, my entire collection of black bricks... and yeah, some of them were like, really old... probably from the early 1970s... like... before I was born... they, like, probably belonged to my sister.

But I think it worked... like, totally. Well worth it, and like... I had to do it... no compromise! I think, like, as a Director, I have to, like, keep my artistic integrity... don't let the studio, like, dictate my artistic vision. So, yeah... I'm happy, and the guys were happy, eventually. The studio can go take a [inaudible].
